Fishdom now holds 17,050 match-3 levels with 50 fresh ones added every Thursday, and every win you score funds the fish tank you design alongside the puzzles.

Fishdom is a match-3 puzzle game from Playrix, the studio behind Gardenscapes and Township, built around a twist most match-3 titles skip: every level you clear pays for fish and decorations in an aquarium you shape yourself. On Android it runs offline for the core levels, so a missing Wi-Fi signal never blocks a play session, though competitions and some events still need a connection. The current build carries 17,050 levels and keeps adding 50 each week, on top of themed Expeditions, Seasons, and tournaments. You match tiles to earn coins, spend those coins on tanks and fish, and chase Diamonds when you need boosters or extra lives. It is two games stacked into one app.

The strongest power-ups in Fishdom and when each one clears the board

Five power-ups decide almost every hard level in Fishdom, and the only thing separating them is how many tiles your same-colored match removes. The bigger the match, the bigger the blast, so the entire skill ceiling sits in setting up large groups before you trigger them.

  • Firecracker (match 4): clears everything in a one-tile radius. The cheapest power-up to build and the one you make most often by accident, useful for popping a single stubborn obstacle.
  • Bomb (match 5 in an L or T shape): wipes a two-tile radius. Save two Bombs side by side and detonate them in one move for a chained explosion that flattens clustered crates and chains.
  • Dynamite (match 6): clears a three-tile radius and ranks among the most reliable answers to obstacle-heavy boards. This is the power-up to aim for once levels start stacking ice, vines, or layered tiles.
  • Warhead (match 7 or more): the rarest of the set, clearing a four-tile radius in one hit. Hard to assemble by hand, so you usually meet it through events or pre-game boosters.
  • Lightning: charges in the corner of the screen as you set off other power-ups, then lands on a random tile. Swipe it and it deletes every tile of that color on the board.

Energy Blast replaces Lightning on certain levels and clears three rows or three columns instead. Pairing two power-ups multiplies the effect, and the combo of Lightning plus a Bomb is the single most efficient board clear in the game. There is also Super Lightning, which removes two colors at once, unlocked at Level 280 after a run of consecutive wins. On the late, obstacle-packed levels where you stall, the fix is almost always the same: stop chasing the colored objective directly and build a Dynamite or a Warhead first to open space.

How many levels Fishdom has and whether the game ever ends

Fishdom currently runs 17,050 levels and releases 50 new ones every Thursday, which means there is no real finish line to hit. Players who clear everything available keep replaying for coins and rewards while the level count climbs week after week, so the content has expanded for more than a decade rather than capping out.

Most stages are standard match-3 boards with a set objective: clear a number of colored tiles, break obstacles, or drop a target item to the bottom row inside a move limit. Tucked between them are mini-games that swap the rules entirely, mixing sequenced logic and simple math puzzles to break the rhythm. That variety is why the level grind rarely feels like the same board on repeat, and it is the main reason long-time players keep a streak going across thousands of stages.

How coins, diamonds, and lives actually work in Fishdom

Coins and Diamonds do two completely different jobs in Fishdom, and mixing them up is the quickest way to run dry at the worst possible moment. Coins are your everyday currency for the aquarium half of the game, while Diamonds are the premium currency that bails you out on hard levels.

Coins buy fish and decorations, and you collect them by clearing match-3 levels, finishing mini-games, feeding fish (yours or a friend’s), and cleaning your tanks. Diamonds are scarcer and far more flexible: they buy boosters, purchase extra moves when a level fails by one tile, and refill your lives, with a single heart costing 9 Diamonds. Lives themselves cap at 5, drop by one each time you fail a level, and refill one every 30 minutes if you simply wait.

Because Diamonds are the bottleneck, knowing the free sources matters more than anything else in the economy:

  • Stars: every star you earn from clearing levels and upgrading your tank pays out 5 Diamonds, the steadiest free trickle in the game.
  • Daily Bonus: unlocked at level 8, the nine-shell wheel hands you a random reward each day, often a booster plus a small Diamond or coin payout.
  • Events and competitions: Treasure Chests from tournaments and limited-time events frequently bundle Diamonds with boosters.
  • Season Safe: with the Golden Ticket active, finishing all other Season rewards unlocks a Diamond payout from the Safe.
  • Facebook and newsletter: linking your account or subscribing to in-game news grants a one-time Diamond bonus and lets friends send you lives.

Aquariums, fish, and decorating: where your coins actually go

The match-3 board is only half of Fishdom; the other half is an aquarium you stock with 3D fish and decorations paid for entirely in coins. This is the reason the puzzles feel like they lead somewhere, since each cleared level edges you closer to finishing a tank instead of just bumping a score.

Aquariums arrive as themed sets, and recent ones have run from Three Musketeers to Police and a Game Dev tank, each with its own backdrop and decoration list. You populate them with fish that behave like real inhabitants, swimming, reacting when you tap them, and interacting with each other, drawn from a roster that keeps growing with names like Clown Coris, Bluering Angelfish, Redtail Catfish, and Striped Surgeonfish. Feeding those fish and cleaning the tank both pay out extra coins, which loops the decorating side straight back into your spending power. For players who treat the puzzles as a means to an end, the build is the real game, and there is no move limit or fail state on it at all.

Expeditions, Seasons, and Collection cards: where the best rewards hide

The largest free rewards in Fishdom rarely come from the regular level path; they come from the rotating events layered on top of it. Skip these and you leave most of the game’s boosters and bonus Diamonds on the table.

Expeditions are short story-driven adventures with their own goals and prize tracks, recent ones running from “Justice for Sale” to “In Search of a Panacea,” each tied to a small narrative you progress by clearing levels. Seasons run on collected keys and pay out boosters, unlimited-life windows, and unique pets across a reward ladder. Collection cards (the Spring, Fantasy, and Tasty sets among them) drop as you play and hand over bonuses and boosters once a set completes. On top of that sit tournaments and head-to-head competitions where the payouts climb into Diamonds and coins. The practical takeaway is simple: time your hardest grinding for when a Season or event is live, so a single stretch of levels feeds two reward tracks at once.

What’s new in Fishdom version 9.7.8.0

Version 9.7.8.0 rolled out in late April 2026 and leans on fresh event content rather than new core mechanics. The headline additions:

  • Spring Collection cards: a new card set to gather as you play, paying out bonuses and boosters that help you power through tougher levels.
  • “Justice for Sale” expedition: a story event where you expose a conspiracy to recover a stolen artifact, with its own prize track.
  • “In Search of a Panacea” expedition: a second adventure that sends you through the trials of ancient vaults for rewards.
  • New aquarium and fish: a fresh themed tank plus new species to add to your collection.
  • Bug fixes and stability work: the usual round of performance and crash fixes across devices.

Fishdom MOD APK features

This MOD removes the two walls that slow Fishdom most, the Diamond scarcity and the five-life cap, and unlocks the spending side of the game so you can fill aquariums and retry hard levels without grinding for resources first.

Unlimited Diamonds

Diamonds stay maxed instead of trickling in 5 at a time per star or costing 9 each to refill a single heart. That changes how you play the hard boards directly: you can buy extra moves the instant a level fails by one tile, refill all five lives in one tap, and stock pre-game boosters without rationing. It matters most past the four-figure levels, where obstacle density spikes and a single extra move often decides the clear.

Unlimited Coins

Coins stay topped up rather than coming only from cleared levels, mini-games, feeding fish, and cleaning tanks. Since coins are the only currency for the build side, this lets you buy every fish and decoration in a themed set (the Three Musketeers tank, a Clown Coris, a full Police aquarium) immediately, instead of replaying old levels just to afford the next ornament. The decorating half of Fishdom opens up the moment coins stop being the limit.

Unlimited Lives

The stock game caps you at 5 hearts, takes one every time a level fails, and makes you wait 30 minutes per refill or pay 9 Diamonds to skip it. The MOD keeps hearts full, so a level that needs ten attempts costs you nothing but time. This is the single biggest quality-of-life change for the brutal mid-game stages where back-to-back retries are the only realistic way through.

Free pre-game boosters

Stocking a Bomb, Dynamite, or Lightning booster before a level normally burns stars or Diamonds you would rather save. The MOD hands them over, so you can open a stubborn obstacle level with Dynamite and a Lightning Bolt already sitting on the field. Starting a level with a three-tile-radius blast ready to chain is often enough to flip a wall you have failed a dozen times.

Quick note before the table: the rows below line up the same systems side by side, so you can see exactly which Fishdom limits the MOD lifts and which it leaves alone.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Fishdom MOD APK safe to install?

A MOD is a modified build, not the official Playrix release, so treat it as you would any third-party file. Install it on a device or account you are comfortable experimenting with, and keep your main progress separate. The core match-3 gameplay and aquarium content stay the same; only the currency and life limits change.

Will the MOD get my Fishdom account banned?

It can. Fishdom syncs progress and competitions online, and using modified currency or life values can flag an account during events that check server-side data. Many players keep the MOD on a separate, non-Facebook-linked profile and leave their main account on the stock APK to avoid risking a long-running aquarium.

Will I lose progress switching between the MOD and the stock version?

Often, yes. The MOD usually stores progress locally rather than on your linked Playrix account, so swapping back to the stock APK can reset you to where the official save left off. Back up your account through Facebook before testing a MOD, and do not expect MOD-side coins or Diamonds to carry over to the official servers.

Can you play Fishdom offline?

Yes for the core match-3 levels, which is one of the game’s selling points for travel or spotty signal. You can clear stages and decorate aquariums with no connection. Competitions, some events, and reward syncing still need internet, so anything social waits until you are back online.

Is Fishdom free to play?

The game is free to download and the 17,050 levels cost nothing to access. Real money only enters through optional Diamond packs and randomized bundles. You can progress entirely without paying by leaning on stars, the daily nine-shell bonus, and event Treasure Chests for boosters and Diamonds.
